Which like, fuck off I'll love the way I am over my dead body You are not a better or more valid or decent or ethical or moral person, just because somebody else wants to be fixed and you hate that

So much of this shit comes off as an complete infantilization of anyone who doesn't love themselves unconditionally Man why should other people have to shut up just because their own fantasies/ambitions about themselves hurt YOUR feelings

Okay since people are bringing subtweets into my feed arrogantly dismissing my perspective as proof I am not so magnificently well-read as them, I never fucking said "fatpol and disability liberation discourse is all about body positivity", my OP used some pretty specific wording

I was speaking on criticisms of _media_ from a body positivity perspective, and—specifically—the eagerness with which creators who have problems with their neurology or their body are called out as being traitorous to their community for creating art about the desire to be fixed

"Maybe read more" maybe I did read something and I tweeted because I didn't like what I read? Nah that's crazy

I also feel like this is always a disingenuous defense "If you read the whole book, you'd know the author addresses XYZ" Yeah, smart people are smart enough to cover their bases If I took the whole book seriously then every movement would be 10x less problematic than it is

But I mean just because the author in the book covers all that nuance and shit doesn't mean the activists on the ground do so It's the same thing as when brocialists say "There's no such thing as a class reductionist! No one ACTUALLY believes class is the only oppression!"

(Well they sure fucking act like it) I mean I'm sorry but after arguing with the Bay Area "rationalists" I'm very weary of being told I have to obey the principle of charity and read everyone in good faith, as opposed to using my brain and reading between the lines

So yeah FA people *say* this, but in real life as it actually occurred, Greta Christina did get coldly and harshly ousted from her whole community after she told everyone she was going to try to lose weight for health reasons

(And got pelted with a ton of passive-aggressive "Bet she gains all the weight back in five years" comments, and now that she hasn't those people have just shrugged and moved on)

And I'm saying this as a fat person who is strongly sympathetic to FA as a concept, but who still was there and saw what happened and thinks they handled that whole thing really badly
