I guess I just mean in casual attitudes. It seems unlikely, given how progressive everyone in Jackson who isn't Seth appears to be, to be fair

I mean, if I wanted to push the issue I'd say that since it's implied Ellie is a second generation lesbian Marlene might have had some essentialist/second wave views, but then I remember Marlene and Ellie's mom are my age or maybe a bit younger

Recorder from Marlene that Joel can find during the hospital assault, it's subtext but Marlene is saying things like she wishes [Ellie's mom's name] could be there with her, it doesn't sound platonic to me

If Marlene was betraying her lover with that decision rather than just breaking a promise to someone she didn't know that well

Yeah... But i mean, IIRC your view is it was the right thing to do, yes? And it did appear in any case based on 2 that Marlene was correct and it was Jerry's call (he is, after all, the head of the facility)

Yeah it just makes everything more traumatic Especially the whole thing ending on Marlene begging for her life and Joel executing her when she's helpless and dying because he can't trust her

I mean he was likely correct, she would have come after her (with the same crew that eventually came after him), she knew where Tommy lived

Did she? At any rate, I expect Joel was correct that they would never stop searching.
