it's really uniquely angering to have people tell me my son is incapable of commenting on politics. He and a trans friend wrote this two years ago. and he's obviously older now.https://www.patreon.com/posts/my-son-destroys-22922038 …

Trans people congregate with each other and with cis people who signal allyship with them, like any other marginalized group NOBODY has friends that are a random sampling of the population (almost nobody has friends who are 50/50 liberal and conservative, etc)

That's not what he said, he said they're familiar with the article because it's commonly used to harass people online I have no reason not to believe that because I have witnessed this happening constantly firsthand

Okay, fine I don't find that surprising either, because Jesse's article is widely circulated and seen as a major mainstream source about "rapid onset gender dysphoria"

I don't think it's the "sole reason" people are being denied trans-affirming care, but it's certainly a major starting point for people who have doubts, a gateway for them looking at websites like 4thWaveNow etc. That's why he fucking wrote it!

The aw-shucks act Jesse puts on -- "Nobody reads me, I'm not important" -- is wildly disingenuous He's obviously *trying* to be an influential voice, it's fucking weird that he suddenly thinks other people accusing him of that is so risible as soon as it's in a negative light

The people in his comments all "Oh, I wasn't aware that so many people throughout the country were regular readers of The Atlantic, they're more cultured than I thought" No you snotty little prick, they're readers of THIS PARTICULAR ARTICLE, which is viral among "trans-skeptics"

The PURPOSE OF THE ARTICLE was to be a "quick general rundown of this deeply troubling situation for anyone who doesn't understand what's going on with this trans contagion among teens" That's what it's FOR, and people are aggressively using it for that purpose
