That is certainly true. Absolute power corrects absolutely, except perhaps for the most virtuous. Plus I find most kids begrudgingly accept a tyrannical parent more than one that doesn’t care for them at all.

This is a very interesting conversation but it's got a very narrow focus of parents vs everybody as if we're under attack as opposed to parents PLUS everybody which should be a goal for a healthy community. Parenting is not, despite what the last century would suggest, a solo job

Human parenting has been a thing that requires active participation of a community for all of history. It requires a LOT of people if you do it right and I think the argument is getting hung up on the titles granted to the people doing the work as opposed to How Do We Do The Work
