And that's why I see no particular reason to trust you or some bureaucracy to raise my child.

Society is moving in my direction, if only in fits and starts Like I truly believe to a big degree this is why we have that "birthrate crisis" conservatives are so upset about, and I doubt that it will reverse itself if we miraculously get a booming economy after COVID-19

And I think that's delusional. People just don't want to have kids and prefer to enjoy continued independence and freedom. It's not to do with a sense that individuals shouldn't be parents, just that they prefer not to.

Lol Malthus is one of the most incorrectly invoked names in this debate Like if I were a Malthusian I just wouldn't believe in "underpopulation", Malthus straight up believed it was mathematically impossible

Moreover Malthus was in his philosophical/ethical/aesthetic views the *opposite* of an antinatalist He thought the "Malthusian trap" was a *good thing*, ordained by God The masses will always live in fear of starvation and have to work hard for a living, and that's good

Nah the fact that the birthrate is crashing without the need for any kind of top-down ban on procreation is a straightforward refutation of Malthus
