No one here is suggesting a population growth program run by the government either. Try to stay on track.

What are you suggesting? You don’t want children raised by their parents. In effect that reduces “parents” to “breeders.”

No it doesn't, because the bio parents are still people who do more than pump kids out. Jesus.

I know that. But if you have no relationship with your children then you are de facto breeders

No, you're not. If I have a kid who then goes to be reared by the community as a whole, I'm still me. I haven't changed in any way from the current system except that my capacity to hurt the child, knowingly or accidentally, has been diminished.

And everybody else's capacity to hurt the child has been increased.

That's not the way systems of shared responsibility work.

This bias that when adults form bureaucracies and institutions their actions become depraved and corrupt but when they act as individuals in relationships you can trust their inherently decent nature is very common among Republicans It's the complete opposite of my experience

That's really not the perspective. It's that institutions areliable to be corrupt as any individual seeing as they are but collectives of individuals, and since we can only really know ourselves we prefer that we retain as much power and responsibility as individuals as possible

Who the fuck is "we" Of course YOU prefer to retain as much power as possible, because you ARE you Why the fuck should *I* trust you

I am totally on board with the idea that we should respect the fact that you can never really ask someone to trust another person as much as themselves THAT'S WHY WE SHOULD LIMIT THE POWER OF PARENTS Because THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT YOU'RE TELLING CHILDREN TO DO
