When I moved up to Minneapolis, I realized 9/10 people I know up here are Queer. That ratio has not shifted. I could name 2 straight people out of literally dozens of friends I have up here.

One of the first things I did when I moved to Seattle was find a trans support group so I could share experiences with fellow transes. My group is WAY more trans than cis, and that's on purpose. I don't want to have to explain my damn gender to every new friend.

In high school, almost all of my friends were members of our school's Gay Straight Alliance. At the time, that included one lesbian and a lot of "allies". It turns out that many of us "allies" were actually LGBT.

It's like a parental version of 'trans broken arm', where everything a trans child does is suspicious, because they're trans. Do they believe the same thing about other groups of friends who are ostracised, like when they're all on the autistic spectrum? No. It's pure phobia.
