The idea that *both* Joel and the Fireflies needed to die (and, I guess, Ellie as well) is... a take

I'm talking from Ellie's perspective here (who doesn't really get a say in Joel's death iirc?)

Oh if you're just saying you're pro-Ellie that's not that hot a take One reason TLoU 2 is so upsetting to people is that it forces you to actually play as Abby yourself, which means *no matter what* the game must end with you "failing"

Yeah see from everything I keep hearing about Abby, if TLOU2 were a tabletop RPG my character would not simply kill her but kill her in the most sadistic and tortuous way possible because I have seen inside her heart and determined I want to cut it out

That's pretty much what Abby does to Joel, ha.

Well yeah but she has top-tier pissbaby motivation for it

I mean no. She lost her whole family in one day. She’s a traumatized kid Don’t get me wrong. Fireflies can suck my nuts.

Yeah I mean I don't care I'm coming at this with the Um-Helat mentality Trauma over something righteous happening to a bad person isn't my fucking problem, and if you're gonna MAKE it my problem then you're just another one of the bad people

The what?

It's from an NK Jemisin story The utopia of Um-Helat has a terrorist who's been radicalized by right-wing media from our dimension and the only way to stop him from doing harm is to kill him But that drives his son to revenge so he gets brainwashed so he won't be a problem

His daughter (I think the gender was an important part of the identification) And he's not actually a terrorist, they just believe he will inevitably become one -- the only thing he's actually done at this point is make contact with our world (which is the past of their world)
