"Knowing that I am only alive because this man saved my life for no gain of his own and explicitly offered me and my friends shelter, I then led him to his torture and death." That is WAY THE FUCK WORSE than "you killed my dad while rescuing a girl whom he was about to murder"

If I knew that MILLIONS of people were going through this because of Joel and Ellie and I were a leader responsible for some few dozen of those millions of people I would absolutely want Joel and Ellie to suffer for it, painfully

It's astonishing to say that it would be "selfish" of me not to feel this way

if i were trapped in a safehouse bitten slowly waiting to turn and was told that the reason was that five years ago a violent man found love for his adoptive daughter i would simply shed a single tear as i contemplated the nobility of the human spirit it would be very poignant

All I'm going to say is it's some real bullshit how people get with relation to the ending of the prior game and their obsession with a Miracle Cure when to my mind the whole textual point is that the clinging to the vaccine is symbolically in keeping with Joel's past-fixation.

If we're working on the assumption that a vaccine was a real possibility and not just a pipe dream; but then, that wouldn't matter to your theoretical people dying in a safehouse, if they were told Yes, it definitely could have happened and this asshole mucked it up.

And of course, as I've said before, I'd be lying if I said I'd have made a different choice than Joel. Though there is a certain pointlessness to abstractly theorizing on what you'd do in any given extreme situation: "I'd never eat people even after a plane crash" etc
