How is "this game made me miserable and we need less games like it and I don't care about the queer representation" not "anti-"?

I mean, if the game did make them miserable, are they not allowed to comment on it?

I dunno, I mean, I can't stop them? If they're pro reviewers I wish they'd think about who will be helped vs. hurt though

As I've said before, I think you have a very different idea of What Is Significant about this game in the eyes of reviewers and execs than many others do. You think "queer adventure/action stories!" They think "fuck we don't need more graphic dismemberments and gritty despair."

And they're *wrong*. Because there has been so much (as they point out!) of the gritty, and basically none of the queer. The queer matters more.

Except the gritty is what people are going to focus on, I can practically assure you. It got all the press, and it's the big Traditional Shortcut to Prestige.

But the critics could redirect the conversation, if they wanted to.

Part of it is that currently the "high demand" articles are about other aspects, which is standard. It took a long time before people started discussing Krem in Dragon Age, even though he was their favourite part, largely because the initial talks were about discoveries.

Based off the initial reception I'd say we will still be seeing people finding new angles of conversation and discussion about the game for a long, long time. The first one kept popping up in people's essays, thoughts on narrative, etc years after release.

yeah, it has only been 2 weeks and I really wonder if people will write differently about TLOU2 when the demand for hot takes has passed I remember when 1 came out there were all these comparisons to Bioshock Infinite (because you escort a girl around!) which in retrospect...nah

Troy Baker voicing a grizzled video game man is like a magpie swooping a postie. It just kinda happens, naturally.
