Parents. We, the childless, love you. We love your kids. We see how hard all of this is. We (or at least I) can acknowledge your quarantine is harder than ours. It's just, three times this week I've seen, out of nowhere, "Childless people don't know how easy the have it."

The fact that we don't see it this way because we *reflexively assume* parents love their kids and have their best interests at heart (and that kids aren't really people and don't count) is actually pretty messed up

When a parent starts a big long venting session complaining about their kids it's not that different from an employer going in on complaining about their employees They're not automatically wrong, but it's still a powerful person complaining about someone they have power over

I'm not a parent and would not side with parents over kids. This whole discussion was related to the 'do parents need sympathy vs non-parents' issue, and that's the context to read my replies in.
