you know from a certain point of view watching one of the world's biggest celebrity authors, who created one of the world's biggest media franchises, just suddenly steer into a wall because a sign told her she couldn't is actually pretty entertaining

i dont think thats fair. harry potter was a success for a reason, and it resonated with millions for a reason. it is a tragedy to leave it behind, and demeaning to women to take that accomplishment away from her. she is a very talented author, who is also a bigot.

Speaking as a professional ghostwriter, have you considered that maybe she didn't actually write all of it?

No, Harry Potter was actually better in the earlier books where she was less rich and famous The first book is honestly probably the strongest as a book, or the second one It's not about having a ghostwriter it's about having editors

I just see ppl w the same puzzled opinion a lot, & that's what comes to mind. If a writer appears to be producing something not in line w their rl thinking at all, they just may not the person actually writing. I put my own values in what I write (unavoidable), even ghost stuff.

Also I'm not 1) claiming I know anything about whether JKR has ever hired a ghost (I really have no idea) and 2) trying to say that if she did hire a ghost, they wrote all of the books in their entirety. It would be totally plausible that they just wrote portions.

Well... I disagree that there's any real contradiction between the ideology, such as it is, of the Harry Potter books and JKR's real life politics I think people are projecting a lot into Harry Potter that isn't really there

The books are "anti-racist" in the way almost everyone in mainstream media is, this very obvious shallow liberal way

True and valid. It's not hard to ask yourself, "What's a good theme for my MG fantasy book?" and come up with good vs. evil, fascism is bad, etc. It doesn't require a lot of soul-searching or deep thought.
