What Scott likes to do is attract people to his little salon who are *even more paranoid* about "the wokes" than he is so he can take the position of the moderate, so he can feel like the sane and reasonable one It's really fucking transparent

So he can say to an audience of frothing, raving white supremacists "Your concerns are valid but you're just mistaken about how best to address them" and feel like the most reasonable person in the room

He can blow all this hot air about being "charitable" to BLM activists while none of the enemies he's being "charitable" to are anywhere within fifty miles of his blog

That the primary shared value of SSC is hostility to the Left Whether or not its members identify their *opinions* as left-wing, the shared project is fear and hostility to the left as it actually currently exists as a political force

Or maybe the primary shared value is reason and charity, and you interpret that as hostility because reason and charity are values that you're not big on

I don't interpret it that way, that's the truth, that's just what it is in plain and simple terms What do you get when nine liberals extend reason and charity to one Nazi

"What do you get when nine liberals extend reason and charity to one Nazi" Remember America before the Great Awokening? Richard Spencer et al only came to prominence *after* lefties started obsessively talking about "whiteness"

Lol, well, leftists have been "talking about whiteness" since I was in college so if that's the cause and effect of Richard Spencer it was pretty gradual I do notice that his *decrease* in prominence after someone coldcocked him was very rapid though

If you look at the graphs, you can see that the media started talking all the time about woke this woke that, and then like half a year later, Trump starts becoming incredibly popular

Yes, the media started attacking the left and then a right-wing candidate became popular My God, this can only be the fault of the left objectively going too far

Also Clinton got more votes, and there's a lot of good data that shows the "working class" didn't vote for Trump in the numbers people think- his sweet spot was $70k+ a year. "non college white" =/= working class, there are lots of well to do people who never went to school.

What Trump won decisively was white voters, who were so mad that a black guy was in the WH they wanted to make those brown people pay. Economic anxiety was the same analysis that said the German economy drove people to be anti-Semites.
