Like if I were a kid old enough to be on this show I think I'd be old enough to understand the fiction but I would still be so mad about it

They probably mean that, like, life is your Jedi training and winning on the show isn't the only way to become a Jedi, anyone can be a Jedi if they follow their dreams That's the kind of shit I hated as a kid

I just really wanted to actually become a Jedi okay

For that matter from a Star Wars geek POV as kind and supporting as Master Beq is, isn't having the Trials be competitive antithetical to the Jedi Code Having your worthiness depend on having two other trainees who happen to be worse than you at the time

I find it slightly distracting that unlike the original Legends of the Hidden Temple they never tell you what the actual prize is for winning, although the end credits say there is one I assume you get to keep the lightsaber but that's kind of weak if it's the only prize

I guess they felt that would break the fourth wall too much since a Jedi cares not for material things It's a shame, they could've found a lore reason for it (Jedi who pass the Trials will be sent on undercover assignment to the Black Spire Outpost on the planet Batuu)

Well, thank heavens that’s the only ever time that the American cultural fixation on making everything a competition with winners and losers has ever led to something ridiculous.

I'm hesitant to get into this because if we go into what's screwed up with the Jedi in general and their selection and training in particular, in canon, we'll be here all day.

I know what you mean. In one episode the losing kids were told something on the lines of I'm sure we'll see you again. Which makes it sound like they're going to do a Robot Wars wildcard thing where the losers come back and fight it out to get a place in the grand final.

But I don't think this show will do that.
