This is a very clear demonstration of the "9 liberals + 1 Nazi sitting at a table with them = 10 Nazis" principle Scott wrote a 40,000 word "takedown" of neoreactionaries because he spent months debating with them, hanging out with them, absorbing their worldview

I mean, I think it can be done. But you have to foreground your end conclusion. "Here's some SPECTACULAR BULLSHIT, let's unpick it," not "here's an idea, let's take it seriously" *forty thousand words pass* "so obviously there are some flaws."

You know that saying "Small minds discuss people, average minds discuss events, great minds discuss ideas" It was written by a useless ivory tower piece of shit like Scott I am happy to be one of the small minds who discuss people who say that and call them feckless nerds

Anyway, you do not discuss neoreactionaries' IDEAS in order to oppose them You do not take them seriously You discuss them as PEOPLE - their neuroses, their hangups, their disturbing personal histories, the monstrosities their predecessors enacted that they seek to enact

All the stuff that rationalists hate - "well-poisoning", "ad hominem", "Bulverism" It's the only thing that's actually relevant, it's the only reason to discuss them at all rather than ignoring them

They never accurately identify those fallacies either. THey get very mad when you point out that its not an ad hominem fallacy to show how they're wrong and call them an asshole, so long as you aren't saying they're wrong BECAUSE they're an asshole.

More importantly, it's not a formal debate and I'm not interested in sticking to the assigned thesis It is quite valid, upon learning what kind of a person you are, to completely lose interest in your ideas and why you're wrong and instead become interested in why you suck

In fact, unilaterally declaring a convo a debate, despite not sticking to a thesis or having one at all, and turning it into a performance is a dick move
