Maybe it's because I'm autistic or something, but I honestly don't understand your way of thinking about this. Your ability to harness clout with such tactics speaks ill of humanity. We aren't going to make it through the Great Filter because of people like you (on all sides).

So basically expanding game theory - including the concepts of punishment as tool to discourage bad actors - to encompass its 'operators'?

I think an inverted way of looking at this is the game theory concept of "super rationality" (I think the super here is as in "above") where even in a game that seems to favor defection as long as there's some room to build trust "super rational" agents can work together.
