Hell, even from the parent's side it isn't right. It's too much for everyone involved - that much relationship intensity is something we're not built for, and kids and parents both need other adults of varied ages and experience. I would kill right now for a damned village.

#1 reason I chose an institutional daycare over a home - based one for my kids : multiple caregivers

idk, too many cases of an uncle or close family friend being the abuser and scaring the kid into not telling their parents for me to really be convinced you're right. I still agree that the nuclear family thing is bullshit though.
-
The nuclear family dynamic also means that "close" family 1) aren't that close, as in you spend less time with them to know them deeply, and 2) children are isolated with a caregiver more often, so if that caregiver goes bad, there's no check, whether parent or "close family."

you don’t even need “active” abuse: children need reliable parenting, and only 2 parents is not a reliable system, especially when they’re so tightly coupled. if one degrades while the other is down for maintenance, then the child gets neglect regardless of intent.

Any abuse.

Yeah, goes for all kinds of antisocial behavior generally too.
