The reason I don't like this post is that I was sarcastically using Eliezer Yudkowsky's cringey terminology about "bad actors in information space" to describe myself ("mindkilled", "black robes", "Dark Arts", etc.) Today I'd just say "low-decoupling conflict theorist"

If you want to sit down at a table peacefully with me I need to know that attacking me is COMPLETELY OFF THE TABLE It doesn't matter what scientific evidence or rational arguments someone presents to you It's COMPLETELY OUT of your "decision space" or else I'm drawing my gun

I guess I just can't connect your points here about taking preemptive action against Nazis with the action being to strip Scott of either his blog or his job. Seems like we can keep punching Nazis AND let Scott do his thing, and the two aren't interfering with each other.

Much like how cops are trained to shoot as soon as they believe a suspect attacking them is anywhere in the suspect's decision space? Yeah, that's been turning out real well.

I do not believe the problem is that cops don't trust civilians, exactly - I don't think the problem can ever be fixed by training cops to trust civilians I think the problem is too many civilians trust cops
