As someone who's been a fan of Chris Avellone for a long time I guess the specific lesson for people like me is when famous people get fired from their prestigious jobs for no obvious reason we should stop assuming it's just because suits are malicious incompetents

I mean, suits ARE malicious incompetents, but they tend to err on the side of NOT firing people above a certain level.

Yeah the callout thread says his bosses gave him second chance after second chance but eventually the public spectacle of "head writer Chris Avellone being drunk in public at a big industry event" was too much of a liability to ignore

It's by firing him and turning him into a freelancer that they successfully delayed this personal reckoning for him by four years, it now seems in hindsight
