Alan Moore famously said the whole reason Watchmen was supposedly "revolutionary" for a comic book was that it was just a normal story He wrote it like a regular novel - beginning, middle and end, self-contained with none of the "superhero comic book universe" continuity shithttps://twitter.com/perdricof/status/1272914077619294210 …

The real story of Bioshock Infinite isn't the politics of Columbia. That's set dressing for the story the devactually care about, which is all the Doctor Who stuff. Which is exactly why the Daisy subplot stands out, because she has absolutely nothing to do with any of that.

There's definitely a general sentiment, even (and maybe especially) among a certain type of white liberal creative that for something to be "subversive" it absolutely must have a degree of moral ambiguity, no matter the other specifics.

Considering the fact that the narrative terminates in “oh the white supremacy was within me, the white murdering psychopath all along” I’m not sure the narrative is actually that anti-Fitzroy so much as it is deeply cynical about the soil of Americanism (in a game with no soil)
