Like, the whole *reason* Watchmen is good is that it rejects all the stuff that comic book fanboys think is uniquely fun about comic books (which is why it's become so retroactively controversial with people who hate it)

There might be a chance if Joel was shown to be a selfless guy, but he’s not. He’s literally a bad guy who’s been given one last chance to feel like a good person. He can’t throw that away, because that feeling means more to him than the rest of the world.

Respectfully disagree. In the intro, we do not know much about Joel except that he is trying to raise a daughter by himself and suddenly finds themselves in an abrupt emergency with known neighbors trying to kill him for no reason. While trying to escape (1/n)

Joel has spent every moment since his daughter died in his arms trying to not get attached again, because being attached brings pain. But he did get attached, and he is absolutely not going to experience that pain again if he can help it.
