carlton is no better than will and his moral high horse act drives me insane. he's a smug piece of garbage. So's will, but at least will is charming. carlton thinks he's better than everyone. will just thinks he's cooler.

On a meta level Will Smith really liked those "serious episodes" where he got to really act But he also really resisted the show evolving away from being a static sitcom where the other characters got development and could possibly upstage him
