Hot take: Harry Potter isn't as blatant as future isekai, like it straddles the line between "isekai" and more general "Chosen One narratives" But it's the world's most popular isekai https://twitter.com/AnaMardoll/status/1272191907414913024 …

She later makes Ron a Quidditch hero in the position of Keeper, where he completely shuts out the other team from scoring any goals for the whole match Which, sure, is impressive, but takes place entirely offstage

Because, awkwardly, you could do that and the other team's Seeker could get the Snitch and you would still lose the game

She let Krum lose the world cup while catching the snitch. But to do that the team's have to be so unevenly match at the non-seeker part. Quidditch without seekers would be a far superior game.

Well, I think the Quidditch World Cup was an attempt to retcon Quidditch to make the game make more sense by changing "150 points" (15 goals) to be a *small* number of points and goals Hence it's a whole strategic thing for the Seeker to try to end the game at the right moment

She tried that with the World Cup match, but it just made the other team look incompetent because they needed to be losing by over 150 points, meaning they almost never had the ball or scored.
-
I mean, these are supposed to be the two best teams, watching one curb stomp the other for an hour before a guy catch a magic ball that ends their suffering but still makes them lose sounds like a horrible game to watch.

Yudkowsky played with this in HPMOR, where the situation meant both teams needed to get *their own score* up to some ridiculous figure, and so any early finish would be "both sides lose". (The Seekers essentially exiled themselves from the game for hours.)
