Like, back to 4X games - each one has refined diplomatic options, and it's never REALLY gotten better. That's not saying that I think the games need to simulate peace better because it's more moral than war - peace actually is simmed OK in Civ with science, etc.

This was also broadly the sense in Imperial Germany at the outbreak of World War I - France is soft, and they'll melt before our brave troops. Then everybody died.

I don't think you can really call that 'racism' given that it's two super-white countries, but even at very high levels, that kind of ethnic stereotyping usually drives analysis and it's always wrong.
