Chuck Wendig hosted his child rapist friend on his blog until called on it and remains friends with a guy who threatens to doxx people (incl. Me), I disliked him well before he decided to become the precedent for ending online archival over a site where no one DLd his books once

For the record he's not involved in the lawsuit in any way and his books are not named in it

he was the first person who made big waves about it and I kind of doubt it'd have gotten anywhere without it Who else was majorly involved?

This is not even close to true and is a very clear example of people on Twitter thinking the world revolves around Twitter All the big author orgs released statements condemning the IA's Free Library years ago

The Emergency Library was a major aggressive move making it clear the IA thought the previous objections were groundless, there was no way nothing was gonna happen And Chuck Wendig was absolutely not the first or only person to say anything, he just went viral

I don't follow large publishers on here and I definitely wouldn't at this point. He showed up as someone vocally upset despite being provably unaffected. The current attention is a continuation of the original outburst, minus the White Wolf child rapist bit I didn't see before.

There are others in the industry discussing the actual impact of ebooks/online lending/etc, and they should be listened to and the entire thing should be discussed. Slamming in to a discussion on him working with a pedophile on a thread that explicitly talks about before the IA

helps nobody at all and it's genuinely weird to show up like that.

I don't know anything about the pedophile story and I'm therefore not commenting about it I object to him being made the "main character" of the IA story when he has almost nothing to do with it except the misfortune of a tweet going viral
