I have talked about copyright in "moral" terms before, the moral right to control your work, the "right to be forgotten", etc, and while I do think that's a factor I think I was mostly reacting to what I perceive as obnoxious entitlement from the other side

It's weird that people talk about how much it sucks that to pay the bills people have to sell off those rights to Disney or EA or whoever, but then argue they should've never had them to sell in the first place

the library of alexandria is hard to compare to modern stuff because copying books was extremely labor-intensive back then, but it's also worth mentioning that they grew their collection by confiscating any books carried by ships that entered their port.
