I have talked about copyright in "moral" terms before, the moral right to control your work, the "right to be forgotten", etc, and while I do think that's a factor I think I was mostly reacting to what I perceive as obnoxious entitlement from the other side

Most creators, if you made the offer, would probably happily take "A guaranteed living wage for your labor and a fair price for the value your work brings to others" in return for "You can now never, ever sue someone for doing some offensive fanfic of your work again"

It's weird that people talk about how much it sucks that to pay the bills people have to sell off those rights to Disney or EA or whoever, but then argue they should've never had them to sell in the first place
