What if I told you if you got enough and you’re satisfied with what you got that efficiency doesn’t factor into that?

I’m not trying to be snarky but that’s just how I see it. A cooperative doesn’t have to follow norms of a capitalist firm.

Until they have to compete with another business in the same field for dollars from customers who don't give a shit about their ideals and just want the lowest prices for the best service

Your logic seems to be “well capitalists exist so we have to do as they do and use the state to do half ass measures which they can readily roll back with lobbyists next election”

My logic is fuck the capitalists, steal their shit, and if they try to lock you up fucking smash their heads in. Sorry if I don’t support incrementalism.

Yeah I mean honestly I find this very annoying Telling some midlist fantasy author "Why are you still trying to make money under an exploitative capitalist system? Why not SMASH PRIVATE PROPERTY ALTOGETHER" Okay are you gonna smash my landlord and the owner of my grocery store

Cause, like, smashing those is pretty hard And smashing *intellectual* property is many many times easier and can be done in your underwear from your laptop So, in practice, it's just the author's property that gets smashed

It's even specifically the poorer rightsholders who get smashed, since Disney will come down really hard on sites that leak Avengers Endgame before it comes out in theaters but there's very little some indie film producer can do playing whack-a-mole with DMCA takedowns

Like, you think you're smashing capitalism but the capitalists who own the basic necessities of life like housing and groceries and medicine look like they'll be around a good long while yet, even as traditional publishing gets decimated So who are you really helping

I really wish "hey, I need to eat" were enough justification. Authors make very little and have insane competition, especially when self-publishing, and their content is easier to pirate than most everything else. Traditionally published, they make far less than minimum wage.
