It wouldn't even be a loss leader for Amazon to offer a library to get people to show up onto their platform and generate secondary sales.

Of course there's a tension between artists getting paid and art being widely shared and enjoyed I never denied that tension exists I'm mostly mad at the people on the "other side" who DO deny it exists, the copyright minimalist/abolitionists who think it's all bright side

Like, look, I personally don't think CDL in and of itself is all that big a deal, although I also don't make any money from royalties on anything so I have no skin in the game If we were only having a debate over CDL and where the boundaries of fair use should be, fine

there will always be money in the art economy. consumers don't stop spending when something goes away, they just spend on something else. the only difference is it wouldn't be concentrated in the hands of a few huge entities. community vendors, commissions, merch, it still exists
