Public libraries exist and they pay in a way the IA didn't so actually authors are already offering their books in a free way and they can still want to be paid for their labor.

What's especially shockingly headass about this is someone in a tenured faculty position acting like the people in traditional publishing are the "privileged" ones Or that academia itself does not constitute a "legally enforced cartel with monopoly powers"
