It is amazing, the very first paragraph of the first Harry Potter book is JKR dunking on the Dursley family for being boring narrow-minded affluent white picket fence nobodies Like the whole "wizard school" metaphor is her earnestly thinking on some level she was above all thathttps://twitter.com/FreyjaErlings/status/1266417145732268033 …

On reflection, the fact one of the first things that Harry learns is that he's rich as fuck is... Kinda telling... As is the fact that Harry is rich is really just an incidental detail that's rarely brought up...

I... I didn't say anything about class? Just that Harry was rich... Which he was.... What's class got to do with it? Or your inheritance? I feel like you skipped some steps?

Also you go on to point to how “she” wrote a story where poor people (the weasley’s i guess) love this rich kid So you bring up being rich as a point (which is a class by the way) and then implied it was used to show poor people (also a class) loving him because of his money...

'Rich' is not a class - that's why people who get lots of money via inheritance of winnings don't instantly become Upper Class. Harry is still middle class but he has money that could solve his problems and other people's problems but chooses not to. That was my point.

Harry was, in fact, born into the upper class That's what it means to have a huge amount of money that's been passed down to you from your parents and grandparents

I say he's middle class mostly because of him living with the Dursleys
