On one hand, it's plausible that Rowling accidentally chose a pen name from an early proponent of conversion therapy. On the other, she is literally known as an author for her extensive work into symbolic character names and their associations

Like she really didn't actually do that much research, I could come up with names the way she did without having to Google anything

She did for the ones she felt were important. A writer's pseudonym gets even more deep research than any character. If nothing else to make sure it's unique enough (or anonymous enough if that's the goal).
