Of course she already had people hooked by that point, but I think her ability to project omnipresent messed-up-ness beneath all the goofiness was always there, and drew people in. The books always felt to me like they had an inherent tension a lot of other fantasy lacked.

Azkaban is an incredibly powerful symbolic argument for prison abolition, the moral urgency of it If you could look into a prison as it exists right now and see the dark hooded shapes gleefully, greedily sucking the joy and hope out of human souls, funded by our tax dollars

As an auror, if Harry *knowingly* sends people to azkaban then harry cannot be trusted as a moral agent, since he was resisting voldemort on an existential/revenge basis, and then failed to follow through on any ideological differences.
