I’m sorry if my thread was at all upsetting to anyone with a DSD. My hope was to raise awareness and also encourage people to realize that there is a huge amount of diversity out there and to encourage them to be kinder. If it didn’t read that way I sincerely apologize.

It didn't read that way, maybe you could delete it or correct it? This is my (simple) reply to a Prof retweeting your thread ...https://twitter.com/RaeUK/status/1269996172292358145 …

Aphrodite's Offspring @RaeUKReplying to @damienridge @Jessica12ukHi Prof, have you read that thread? I have. It's using a very small number of intersex people as 'proof' of Sex Spectrum Theory. We're not that proof. And, frankly, people who use and abuse intersex and our often traumatic medical conditions this way are no better 1/1 reply 1 retweet 12 likes -
Thanks for sharing this. I will read more about what is going on. The thread was written in December. I’ll have to read up more on what’s happening now. If you happen to have more info from people on twitter feel free to DM.

These are TERFs trying to hijack the conversation from the mainstream intersex activism community, fwiw You can tell because they use the abbreviation "DSD" even though 50 intersex orgs signed a joint statement in 2019 expressing opposition to the termhttps://ihra.org.au/35299/joint-statement-icd-11/ …

There's a core clique of social media TERFs centered around Claire Graham ("MRKHVoice", "IntersexFacts") trying to astroturf this shit but they are in clear political opposition to what consensus exists among actual intersex activists and organizations

Again, you can tell because the two big watershed position papers that resulted from major international gatherings of intersex organizations, the Malta Declaration and the Darlington Statement, explicitly oppose enacting a medically determined sex binary in law

See here: https://oiieurope.org/malta-declaration/ … And here: https://ihra.org.au/darlington-statement/ … These are not ambiguous statements, they explicitly call for a system of universal self-ID for "M/F" on legal documents and reject medical definitions for any legal categorization

People you're talking to like
@RaeUK throw up a ton of chaff about this but they are very clearly in opposition to the consensus of the intersex community, in favor of the concept of "sex-based rights" as imagined by primarily non-intersex "gender critical feminists" (TERFs)3 replies 2 retweets 14 likes -

I think the absurd situation of "defending sex-based rights" as opposed to "eliminating sex-based discrimination" is obviously the foundation behind IGM ("I have to make sure my child gets sorted into the category that gives them the most rights") but hey you do you

Just don't pretend to speak for the "intersex community" on this when the Darlington Statement is one big gauntlet thrown down against your whole shtick Stating clearly they see it as a matter of fundamental justice to eventually abolish legal sex classification
