Haven't read/seen all of these but I can definitely see the comparisons to NGE, Ideon, Devilman, and Ender's Game. At the same time, I'm rather surprised by they were brought up (except for Ender's Game).
Body Snatchers is of course super obvious though. I mean, come on. That's the plot.
The Puppet Masters by Heinlein is named because it's considered the original one of these Like "mind control" or "corruption" as a general theme has obviously always existed but that one specifically invented brain-slugs from another planet
Oh interesting. Did not know that. I've only ever read Starship Troopers by Heinlein (though I also own Stranger in a Strange Land).
As terrible as a lot of these Golden Age dudes were as people you do kind of have to hand it to them that a ton of what we think of as well-worn SF tropes are things they just straight up invented
Like Heinlein also invented a bunch of time travel shit (the closed time loop is a major theme of both "By His Bootstraps" and "All You Zombies")
