I remember learning about this some time ago and its a genuine fear of mine now and I don't know what to do about it
My father-in-law passed away a few years ago. He had a big fear about this happening to him, and so he insisted he wanted to be cremated when he died. My husband and his sister thus chose a cremation ceremony. It certainly is a possible solution to lay this fear at rest!
Being cremated alive sounds bad too, to be honest
Also sounds suboptimal if I were alive. I can understand a general fear of being treated like a dead body while still alive, but getting super specific seems harder to understand.
Yeah if I were afraid of being trapped in some conscious aware state that only looked like death I wouldn't ask to have my throat slit I'd ask to be shot in the head
Idk what the easiest/least painful option would be in this scenario that would be a reasonable ask of the mortician
Cremation probably would not in fact be so bad - a crematorium gets VERY hot VERY quickly, it'd be over in less than a second - but I guess if you're fully aware of your surroundings lying there waiting to be cremated might be pretty bad
