Yep... but also being depressed and having real problems doesn't mean you're directing your anxiety and existential despair toward the right things CBT can be one of many useful tools IF you're starting with the assumption that some but not all causes of distress are "right"

There's also a point where you have to decide whether you want to be Right About Everything or you want to be useful, and short-term bullshitting yourself can be a better strategy for the second thing than using "depressive realism" basically as self-harm

Well, the question of whether you give a shit about being useful is a complex philosophical one with no clear objective answer but one that therapists obviously have a biased answer for by default
