It wasn't even called the White House until the Wilson administration. Before then it was called the Presidential Mansion. I have packed away somewhere a letter from Taft on stationary which uses the previous name.

LOL I thought they changed the name after the Canadians burnt it in 1812 and it was painted to cover the damage. I guess I shouldn't use the arrogant worms as a history source.
