There's no such thing as a "nonlethal weapon" and it's especially absurd to talk this way about firearm rounds, which have a minimum level of force they must carry as the result of being shot out of a gun with an explosionhttps://twitter.com/scattermoon/status/1267033721275920384 …

Wild that we're still seeing a narrative of rubber bullets being safe when they've repeatedly been shown to cause serious injuries, such as permanently blinding people, and even deaths. 'Rubber bullets are safe' is propaganda, don't fall for it. https://twitter.com/Quiara/status/1266815083981803525 …

A baseball bat is "less lethal" than a knife for the same reason as a rubber bullet vs a lead bullet - less dense, spreads out the kinetic energy more - but how much does that matter if someone hits you with one in the face as hard as they can

Especially given, as has been mentioned, that rubber bullets are metal cores surrounded by rubber. And any less-lethal weapon will become lethal if used cavalierly, which current American cops will do.

Even with bad luck or poor training. There's a famous story about a traffic stop in Baghdad in 2003 which traumatised the fuck out of the marine not trained to fire them properly.

I've had some self-defense training, and one of the first lessons is that *any* blow is potentially lethal. So we were told not to defend ourselves unless the situation was one where we were willing to take on the consequences of possibly killing someone.

Anyone who joins the police has already decided they're willing--or even eager--to kill. And they won't suffer any consequences other than their conscience (assuming they have one) as long as they stick to killing Black and Brown people. They're so vile.

This is so true. There are NO non-lethal weapons. Just LESS lethal. You can easily kill someone with a cvs receipt if you want to.

Calling rubber bullets "nonlethal" is about as accurate as calling a suppressor a "silencer". The term is "less lethal". The attentive reader will have noticed that the word "lethal" is still active.
