Since then, I have upgraded to a "gaming laptop" that runs Windows 10, because I don't give a shit anymore I tell people the old laptop "died" on me but it still works fine, I just became intensely frustrated with it

The new laptop got a crack in the display a while ago and while I was waiting to get it fixed I tried booting up the old Linux laptop and the process of trying to upgrade it to the latest version of Mint while keeping all my old stuff on it intact basically broke me

I gave up on it partly because I was lying earlier, when I said I wanted to "learn more about computers" what I meant was that I hoped someone seeing me running Linuxwould cause them to see me as attractive and intelligent and ask to sleep with me, and this has never occurred

"But Arthur, a gaming laptop for doing stuff like recording voiceover is actually a really bad idea, because the extra fans on the motherboard make the laptop extremely loud" Yeah okay that's a lesson learned for the future

Along similar (or maybe opposite, I dunno) lines, I used to be a loyal iPhone user for many years until eventually the 10% surcharge on anything that has a Lightning cable instead of a USB cable also finally wore out my patience

I've got a gaming desktop to play all the games and a Chromebook, because frankly, I just want shit to work when I'm on line.

I ran Ubuntu on an ancient IBM PC. Never quite figured out how to install shit.

These days I treat Linux installations as throwaway. Take a tinned default, shove configuration files on, then if something goes wrong reimage the thing or bin the offending computer. BSD 4 lyfe now, even if it is MacOS.

Yeah, Linux world has a lot of kinda pushy folks. In my case Linux fills most of my needs, with Windows 10 and macOS on the side for porting stuff + DAW. Honestly, people should just use the tool that works best for them when it comes to an OS.

Agreed, and I know exactly what you mean about those pushy Linux folks
