Like hey, my "boycotting" HP because I don't like it doesn't have any impact on JKR's fortune and isn't something she'll notice Someone continuing to be a massive YouTube influencer based on HP fandom while openly calling her a TERF? Drives her up the fucking wall, probably

I mean I obviously don't know for a fact that it bothers her but she's revealed enough about her personality in various venues that I'm pretty damn sure "Harry Potter was written by Hatsune Miku" etc makes her blood boil It's really fun to imagine

Honestly it's almost worth the fact that it continues to indirectly enrich her (I mean, whatever, like she says you can't make her not a billionaire no matter what you do)

I've been avoiding it since 2007. That's a prime example of a franchise that outstayed its welcome even before it was over

I definitely agree with this. Personally, I can’t separate myself from the series because it’s meant so much to me. But since JK taught me the magic of imagination, I can easily imagine she doesn’t exist and this story was better written by a more worthy person.

I went through this same thing with Ender's Game. Just for me personally, I'm not going to let a bigot take away memories & stories that already matter to me, but I try not to support any of their new endeavors. Now that I know myself, I direct my passion to inclusive franchises.

and she’s certainly made it easy to not want to support any of her new endeavors, too.

"I never understood Death of the Author until I saw the Potter fandom collectively divorce itself from JK Rowling"

That's not what death of the author means :(
