I remember my first week of school in Connecticut, where I found that just because school lunch says “clam chowder,” that doesn’t mean they won’t hand you a cup of fluorescing orange water and say “it’s MANHATTAN clam chowder, everyone knows that” and wave you on.

Fluorescent orange? What did they do- sub the tomatoes for Tang?

I love that Rhode Island Clam Chowder, Manhattan Clam Chowder, and New England Clam Chowder all contentiously fight to be on top in this little area you can drive across in an hour.
