I mean the 'grown man imprints sexually and romantically on a newborn infant' part.

Yeah she ages at 4x the normal human rate so she'll hit full maturity in like 4-5 years and stop there and just be immortal from that point forward It's very convenient

I mean this was a plot point before, this is why Bella's pregnancy hit full term in just a few months and the fetus was literally bursting out of her and she almost died (forcing Edward to vampirize her)

If you're worried about consent, fortunately Renesmee has a psychic power where she projects her emotions onto everyone around her, so you will automatically feel it yourself if you do anything to harm her or make her unhappy

Even before she's born everyone around her has been trained to put her welfare above all else because making her happy makes them happy Meyer does not seem to realize how incredibly creepy this is

Yeah, it’s really hard not to read her as some sort of borg queen. Between that and the accelerated pregnancy, it’s kinda amazing how much like a horror story she is

It really feels like Meyer, as a recent mother, making a wry commentary on what raising a baby in general is like - "Everyone's unhappy when the baby's unhappy" - and not thinking through what this actually implies

And yes there were SO MANY "Renesmee is the Antichrist" memes

God and Meyer does follow through with it to an extent, like the birth scene is genuinely nightmarish, and includes the detail that the baby's terror and pain is causing a feedback loop where everyone else is experiencing waves of agony, which only makes Bella's labor harder

It's like in LOGAN where Professor X's brain tumor means every time he has a seizure hundreds of innocent people collapse and die horribly
