There's some irony in how Hadestown is meant to be about itinerant minstrels in the Great Depression putting on a show in an abandoned building to talk about the suffering of the migrant communities they come from through the lens of Greek myth

But the actual show has multiple concentric ring-shaped treadmills, an elevator, the whole set is rigged to break apart and reconfigure itself with precisely timed motors, etc. Not that I don't love the show but seriously
