Unfortunately we live in a country where not everyone has the means to do that and continue to feed their family

additionally, once people start accepting people wearing them as protection it helps begin normalizing wearing them as proactive protecting of others like its stupid but its america and i will take baby steps where i can because some lives saved are better than none

of course people should just fucking wear a mask in the first place, but as we've learned far too many americans stopped maturing at age 3, so

no, it's moronic to wear a mask. It makes as much sense as requiring men to walk around wearing condoms because it is possible they will spontaneously have sex with some one. How about you do us all a favor a wear a mask and leave the rest of us the fuck alone?

What the fuck are you saying, are you saying you have the same amount of control over whether you have sex with someone as whether you exhale near them

I'm saying you have no way of knowing whether or not you are currently infected, and if you are infected, you can infect other people just from standing near them and exhaling tiny droplets of spit that end up landing in their mouth The analogy with condoms is stupid

I mentioned an anecdote about how when I was a kid our class was all grossed out by being told that the fact that you can smell something requires that tiny particles of that thing have entered your nostrils and are now inside your body

yes. now think: if you can smell someones breath, and you breath that air, you inhale that deep into your lungs where an infection can occur. If you will be infected depends on the amount of virus present in that persons "breath". ie: a viral "load" good point

Well the problem is that the virus itself is odorless so whether you can *actually* smell someone's breath isn't a good indicator of anything
