Insert extended rant here about how KOTOR2 has done lasting damage to SW

Look even if Star Wars is a Daoist universe (it's really more of a Buddhist universe but whatever) it doesn't mean everyone who lives in that universe is going to like it

What exactly the difference is between Buddhism and Daoism is a fraught topic but from a Buddhist POV it's a more "sophisticated" philosophy It's not as simple as "Everyone be chill and there won't be any trouble"

Ok sure, but the basic problem is every one started taking Kreia's whining at face value ad Objective Truth because the writers of KOTOR2 seemingly resented SW not being the way they preferred.

I dunno about actually wanting the Star Wars universe to be different, I think it's reasonable to just say if you were in this universe and you had proof this was how the universe worked, somebody would be upset

No one denies that Kreia is a Sith and she's on the Dark Side And she's even inevitably doomed to fail, her dream is impossible and she was willing to commit atrocities for it It's just as interesting and self-aware a version of the Sith philosophy as he could write

Rather than just one-note cackling fascists it's Sith who, well, know they're Sith "I know there is a divine plan and I knowingly oppose it because it is the divine plan, not for any other reason"

The thing is, that's incredibly contemptible. "I will actively destroy the world for the innocent and the weak because I don't like the idea of being told what to do."

Doesn't make you any better or worse than the God who created those innocent and weak for they purpose of crying out in terror and being suddenly silenced to further a Hero's Journey

Besides, again, so what The same Force that gave Revan his destiny gave Kreia hers She's just more self aware and philosophical about it but it's the same thing

In the LS ending to KotOR 2 Kreia even acknowledges that in the long run she was just an obstacle the Force raised up for the Exile to knock over as the first big step on the Exile's Hero's Journey And she comes to accept it

Every horrible thing that ever happened to you happened because the force wanted it to because it needed a bad guy, not so you can be a better person or live a full life or achieve a dream, so you can be a thing somebody fights

Yeah if you try to redeem Kreia and get her back in your party at the end of KotOR 2 she flips out Basically going "Are you STUPID? Don't you get it? The game only ends when you kill me! I'm the final boss!"
