I mean, that's not necessarily true either, that's assuming a perspective of absolute predestination

Anakin falls because he is going in contrast to what the Force wanted him to do and following the Dark Side instead. This isn't a very foreign concept.

so I guess the notion of free will just takes it full in the ass, you either obey the force or get ruined, yeah this is a power we should cower before instead of destroying the universe

Uh, no shit? *the Force is based on Daoism* and in Daoism the ideal state to aspire to is total harmony with the Dao

And if you don't like that and think that you can just Punch The World, sure, that's a thing, but *it's not the position taken by Star Wars' inspirations*, where striving against the Dao is the explicit SOURCE OF SUFFERING AND DISHARMONY

Look even if Star Wars is a Daoist universe (it's really more of a Buddhist universe but whatever) it doesn't mean everyone who lives in that universe is going to like it

What exactly the difference is between Buddhism and Daoism is a fraught topic but from a Buddhist POV it's a more "sophisticated" philosophy It's not as simple as "Everyone be chill and there won't be any trouble"

Trouble is inevitable, it's part of being alive, and the concept of being chill is being able to take a bigger perspective and not actually see the trouble as trouble

(There's a comparative religion thing from ancient China that was angry at Buddhism precisely because the writer saw the First Noble Truth - suffering is inevitable - as this ugly subversive sentiment)
