So after sleeping on this I just want to add that you could kind of encapsulate this in how Freddie Mercury and David Bowie are treated as queer icons but Kurt Cobain isn't Like, I love Freddie Mercury but I would never be able to emulate that kind of energy Cobain, I can dohttps://twitter.com/Nymphomachy/status/1263980060412911618 …

Was Cobain "queer" in the sexuality sense though? Everything I can find says he was pretty exclusively into women, though he was an outspoken ally You could call the stuff like performing in drag "genderqueer" but that's exactly what people now find problematic

I mean, obviously that makes David Bowie -- who, at the end of the day, was a cishet dude whose queerness was all onstage persona shit -- way more problematic Before you add in the part about fucking "baby groupies"

Cobain was bisexual or at least bicurious, he talked about it in interviews and stuff, but definitely preferred women We can't KNOW what his sexuality was but we also were deprived of the opportunity to get any updates on it after 1994

I mean based on just what we hear about the kind of child Kurt Cobain was (pretty much 100% "sensitive smol bean with a Ritalin prescription") it's hard for someone like me to imagine he grew up to be exclusively into chicks

Well I try not to go along with reductive stereotypes like "feminine = queer" I mean quotes like this are really a Rorschach blotpic.twitter.com/PqTMF0crZj

I guess it bears bringing up that Courtney Love, who was terrible, was a lot blunter about this, like she made fun of him going "He would make out with guys to freak out the media but when I tried to arrange a three-way with Michael Stipe he totally chickened out"

I mean to be fair I would totally chicken out of a three-way as well

I read a profile a long time ago about polyamory talking about this triad who'd been together for a full ten years but that said they'd never, ever had group sex, and attributed their longevity partly to just not testing their boundaries like that when they didn't have to

Can confirm, all my relationships where group sex happened have exploded, these two marriages haven’t, its not a coincidence

Same I guess I mean not in the sense that I was there when it happened
