It's literally the equivalent of LOLcats or uwu speak Some kids in Boston started a thing where you said "OW" to mean "Oll Wright", and then made it more annoying all "No it's actually OK for Oll Korrect" And then everyone was just doing it all the time

And then it became so widespread that everyone forgot the origin and people still argue about it to this day (but this story is, at least, why it became a thing in its current form, spelled as the letters OK)
