I primarily hate Sarah Ditum for being a vicious bigot and for defending Leelah Alcorn's abusive parents in the wake of her suicide, and her personal life is really neither here nor there

I think it's obnoxious when she herself exploits her personal life as a shield to try to derail conversations and make herself seem like the victim But as far as whether any of her decisions are "right" or "wrong" I don't care, as long as she leaves other people out of it

And hiring a cleaner during a pandemic is, by definition, bringing someone else into it

Owen has explicitly put his cleaner on furlough, which is the specific thing he was telling people they're obligated to do He said anyone who can afford to hire a cleaner can pay them not to work during the pandemic, which is true, and which he has done

Trying to get your housemate, who's behaviour you're not responsible, to do housework is a bit different from making sure your children are productive members of the household. My ex had absolutely no house skills whatsoever, I feel sorry for her teens' future partners.

Well, unfortunately in most actual housemate situations the legal power rests entirely with one party who holds the actual lease or title, and if that isn't you then your options are limited

Nobody said you're automatically a bad person if you have a cleaner or that it shouldn't be allowed In fact, if Owen was saying that it would be directly contradicting his statement that people need to be keeping the cleaners they've hired on furlough

What people did say was that concern trolling and trying to argue cleaners aren't actually a luxury and are an essential service and should therefore be going back to work is monstrous And that assumptions employers make about their cozy relationship with staff are gross
